COULD YOUR COMMUNITY BE A PLASTIC FREE PLACE?

PlasticFreeNoosa-115-copy.jpg

Many people are concerned about the rise of plastic pollution and want to see action to reduce single-use plastics in their community.

It’s not easy being green when so many businesses are only offering plastic!

But it’s not easy for businesses either. To make the switch, they are faced with increased costs, a lack of time to find solutions, and a complex packaging industry which is rife with greenwashing and misinformation.

This also means that our job isn't easy. The Plastic Free Places program seems like a simple idea, but it took us a year of research and planning to create it with our first trial community, Plastic Free Noosa. Since then our program has spread throughout the country, coming under much trial and error to develop it into the success it is today.

Now, we want to help other communities achieve this.

SO WE CREATED 'PLASTIC FREE PLACES' - A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM THAT CAN BE IMPLEMENTED BY US IN ANY COMMUNITY, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH COUNCIL AND THE COMMUNITY ITSELF.

We're doing it in Cairns, Townsville, Byron, Perth and Adelaide, and we can do it in your community too. If you'd like to live in a Plastic Free Place, speak to your local councillor and let them know! Give them the link to our Information for Councils page and ask them to get in touch with us.

And for those seeking insight into how the program works, how we did it and our keys to success, we created this program overview.
