QLD INTRODUCES PLASTIC BAN INTO PARLIAMENT

The Queensland Government today tabled legislation to ban plastic takeaway straws, stirrers, cutlery, plates and bowls. The legislation will now go to a Parliamentary Committee for review, and should be passed into law in the next few months.

Byron's cafes are leading the way in the fight against single use plastic, with over half a million single-use plastic takeaway items, such as straws, cutlery and coffee cups, having been eliminated by Plastic Free Byron’s Make the Switch program.
